Prior to rejoining the firm, Isla served as a Senior Police Lawyer with Victoria Police, where she led the Intervention Orders Division within the Ringwood Prosecutions Unit. Managing a multidisciplinary team of sworn and unsworn members, she was responsible for overseeing a significant caseload and regularly appeared in complex and highly contested intervention order proceedings. Her experience includes matters involving high-profile individuals, police members, and applications concerning the suspension of firearms licences.
Isla also served as Associate to the Honourable Justice Kaye at the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she worked on significant appellate matters, including proceedings that contributed to legislative reform concerning institutional child sexual abuse claims. During her time at the Supreme Court, she also assisted the Honourable Justice Beale in the Erin Patterson trial and took the jury verdict when their deliberations concluded.
Drawing on her diverse experience across private practice, Victoria Police and the Supreme Court, Isla offers clients strategic, practical and outcome-focused legal advice. She is recognised for her meticulous preparation, sound judgment and compassionate approach, ensuring clients feel supported while navigating complex legal issues.
Beyond her practice, Isla is committed to supporting the legal profession and the broader community. She has worked with Victoria Legal Aid and Youthlaw, maintains an active pro bono practice, mentors emerging lawyers through Women in Crime and the Monash University Law Students’ Society, and serves on a Human Research Ethics Committee. She enjoys travelling, Pilates and exploring local farmers’ markets on her Vespa.
